This pack is designed to make the considerably lackluster other armors the same shape and style as the netherite armor is. And yes, it works fine with trims.
This includes:
Gold armor
Iron armor
Diamond armor
Leather armor
Disclaimer: I do not plan to add chainmail armor to the pack.
