# About
A **client-side** Fabric pack for **vanilla multiplayer**. It changes no gameplay,
adds no items and needs nothing installed on the server — you can join any vanilla
or Paper server with it, modded or not.
Built and tested for **HeXHub.net**, so it is preconfigured for that network out of
the box. Nothing ties it to HeXHub, though; it works just as well anywhere else.
## What's inside
- **Performance** — Sodium, Lithium, FerriteCore, ImmediatelyFast, EntityCulling,
C2ME and friends, plus render scaling to trade resolution for frames.
- **View distance** — **Distant Horizons** renders terrain far past the chunk
limit your server hands out. On weak hardware this is the single biggest
visual gain available.
- **No shaders.** Even the lightest ones cost more than this hardware can spare.
- **Voice** — proximity voice chat via **Simple Voice Chat** (needs the server to
run it — HeXHub does).
- **Interface** — Xaero's minimap and world map, tooltips via Jade, hunger and
saturation via AppleSkin, a readable F3 screen, zoom, free look.
- **Input** — full controller support via Controlify.
- **Menu** — custom main menu with HeXHub.net already in the server list.
Same mod list as the other editions, minus everything that costs frames:
no shaders, no extra particles, no atmospheric or audio mods.
Full mod list on the **Versions** tab.
## Fair play
This pack is meant to be usable on servers that ban cheat clients, so it stays on
the right side of that line by default:
- The minimap ships without cave view, entity radar or anything else that shows
you what you could not see yourself.
- Free look turns your head without moving you. No freecam, no spectator mode,
nothing that detaches the camera from your body.
- The locator bar only shows what the server chooses to send.
- Nothing that automates play.
Fair-play settings are the defaults, not a lock. If you change them, that is
between you and the server you play on.
## Settings
Everything is preconfigured — graphics, map, utilities — so the pack works out of
the box.
Keybinds are cleaned up only where mods collide. Vanilla keys and the keys you
actually use stay where you expect them; minor mod keys get moved or unbound.
Sound, mouse and gameplay options stay at vanilla defaults.
**YOSBR** keeps your own settings across updates. Pack defaults apply only on a
fresh install, or when a new mod arrives without an existing config.
## About Distant Horizons
Distant Horizons builds its long-range terrain from chunks you have loaded, so
the view keeps growing as you explore — and stays that way on your next visit.
It needs nothing on the server side.
## This edition — Potato
For very weak PCs and old laptops. Every setting is chosen for frames first, and
render scaling lets you drop below native resolution when that is what it takes.
Reference machine: notebook with **i7-7200U**, integrated graphics, **8 GB RAM**
## Which edition?
| | Target | Shaders | Reference device |
|---|---|---|---|
| **Potato** *(this one)* | old laptops, weak PCs | no | i7-7200U, 8 GB |
| **[Handheld](https://modrinth.com/modpack/hexhub.net-optimized-handheld)** | handhelds, entry-level PCs | yes | Steam Deck OLED |
| **[Enhanced](https://modrinth.com/modpack/hexhub.net-optimized-enhanced)** | gaming PCs | yes | RTX 3070, 32 GB |
The core mod list is shared across editions — what differs is the
preconfiguration, and which visual and audio mods are included at all.
## Minecraft versions
Tracks recent releases, currently **26.1.2**, with builds for **1.21.10–1.21.11**
and **1.21.8**. Version support follows what HeXHub.net runs.
## Status
**Alpha.** Under active development, updated often, expect the occasional rough
edge. Feedback is welcome on Discord.
## License and attribution
Mods are not redistributed by this pack — your launcher downloads them from their
original authors, under their own licenses.
Only the pack's own files (configs, assets, texts) are covered by this project's
**MIT** license.
