Forge 1.13+ uses the Forge team's [CoreMods](https://github.com/MinecraftForge/CoreMods) project instead of the Sponge team's [Mixin](https://github.com/SpongePowered/Mixin) project.
Forge 1.12 uses the Sponge team's [Mixin](https://github.com/SpongePowered/Mixin) project, which does not require [MixinBootstrap](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/mixinbootstrap).
If you experience any crashes with 1.12, you may need [MixinCompat](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/mixin-0-7-0-8-compatibility) or to rename [MixinBootstrap](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/mixinbootstrap) as detailed [here](https://github.com/LXGaming/MixinBootstrap/issues/38).
