Dampening is a new Enchantment which is exclusive to the Elytra.
It effectively reduces damage received when flying into solid blocks at high speed, being slightly more effective than Feather Falling is at reducing Fall Damage.
Can be obtained through Treasure Loot (Chests, Fishing etc..) and Villager Trades.
### IMPORTANT!:
**For Minecraft 1.20.6 versions and lower only**. If you are using [Elytra Trinket](https://modrinth.com/mod/elytra_trinket) or [Elytra Slot](https://modrinth.com/mod/elytra-slot) with the Elytra placed in the cape slot, the Dampening Enchantment will not work unless you use the "Dampening Enchantment Trinket Compat" version. **This is no longer required for Minecraft 1.21 versions and higher.**
