### Prevents random chicken egg laying. Instead, breeding chickens produces eggs.
Works server-side and in single player.
[VioletMistCloudDrift](https://modrinth.com/user/VioletMistCloudDrift) has also created a
[Forge port](https://modrinth.com/mod/chicken-nerf-reforged).
Ever think "Chicken farms are too easy...", or "Getting food in Minecraft isn't a challenge anymore..."?
Chicken Nerf can help you with that.
Chickens will no longer randomly lay eggs.
Instead, when you breed two chickens (with seeds like in vanilla), they will produce a random number of eggs.
This has several advantages:
- it makes more sense
- it makes chicken farms less trivial
- it can reduce lag because wild chickens won't randomly create items all over the place
- it more closely matches the other animals of minecraft
You can see the mod showcased at [2:00 of this video](https://youtu.be/x0R2ubLZEVE?t=120) by

Configuration
Supports [MidnightLib](https://modrinth.com/mod/midnightlib/versions) and
[Mod Menu](https://modrinth.com/mod/modmenu/versions) for configuration, but neither is required.
Versions before 1.7.0 support [Cloth Config](https://modrinth.com/mod/cloth-config/versions) *instead* of
[MidnightLib](https://modrinth.com/mod/midnightlib/versions).
Options will use their default values if [MidnightLib](https://modrinth.com/mod/midnightlib/versions) is absent.
If [MidnightLib](https://modrinth.com/mod/midnightlib/versions) is present, options can be configured either through
[Mod Menu](https://modrinth.com/mod/modmenu/versions) or by editing `config/chicken_nerf.json` in your
instance folder (`.minecraft/` by default for the vanilla launcher).
- Average chickens from one egg; default `0.6`
The number and type of eggs chickens lay can be controlled with the loot table `minecraft:gameplay/chicken_lay`.
Chicken Nerf adjusts the vanilla loot table so that chickens lay 1 to 3 eggs by default.
Prior to version 1.3.1, the number of eggs was controlled via config:
- Minimum eggs chickens lay; default `1`
- Maximum eggs chickens lay; default `3`

This mod is only for Fabric (works on Quilt, too!) and I won't be porting it to Forge. The license is MIT, however,
~~so anyone else is free to port it.~~ and [VioletMistCloudDrift](https://modrinth.com/user/VioletMistCloudDrift)
has [ported it to Forge](https://modrinth.com/mod/chicken-nerf-reforged)!
I'd appreciate links back to this page if you port or otherwise modify this project, but links aren't required.
