# Carpet LIR Addition
Optional, vanilla-style survival mechanics for Fabric Carpet: renewable resources, crafting shortcuts, and block interactions. No custom machines or GUIs.
**Every rule is disabled by default.** Enable only the mechanics you want; some rules deliberately change survival balance.
## Supported Minecraft versions
The published **1.1.0-beta.2** release provides **43 separate builds**, covering Minecraft **1.14.4 through 26.2**:
- 1.14.4
- 1.15–1.15.2, 1.16–1.16.5
- 1.17–1.17.1, 1.18–1.18.2
- 1.19–1.19.4, 1.20–1.20.6, 1.21–1.21.11
- 26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2, 26.2
**Select the Beta 2 file for your exact Minecraft version. A JAR is not a universal cross-version build.** These are release versions, not a claim of snapshot support.
Older versions intentionally have fewer features because the required vanilla blocks or items do not exist:
| Minecraft version | Available rules | Features added at this tier |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 1.14.4 | 2 | Leaves crafting; bone meal on dirt |
| 1.15–1.16.5 | 3 | Honeycomb-block recycling |
| 1.17–1.18.2 | 8 | Calcite, tuff, lapis ore, raw ores, budding-amethyst recovery |
| 1.19–26.2 | 11 | Three independent reinforced-deepslate rules |
Leaves recipes also follow vanilla availability: mangrove from 1.19, cherry from 1.20, and pale oak from 1.21.4. Unsupported rules and recipes are omitted, not registered as nonfunctional options.
## Installation and rule commands
Install matching versions of **Fabric Loader, Fabric API, Fabric Carpet**, and this mod. Put the correct JAR in the server's `mods` folder. Singleplayer works through the integrated server; installation on clients joining a modded server is optional.
On **1.17 and newer**, use `/carpet`. For example:
```text
/carpet renewableCalcite true
```
This enables the rule for the current session. To apply it now **and keep it after a restart**, use:
```text
/carpet setDefault renewableCalcite true
```
To remove the saved override:
```text
/carpet removeDefault renewableCalcite
```
On **1.14.4–1.16.5**, the command root is **`/carpetlir`**, including its `setDefault` and `removeDefault` subcommands. Use a rule available on that version, for example:
```text
/carpetlir setDefault renewableLeavesCrafting true
```
Changing server rules requires operator permission. Enabling one rule does not enable the others.
## What each rule does
Use the rule names below with the command root for your version.
| Rule | First supported Minecraft version | Effect when enabled |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `boneMealGrassifyDirt` | 1.14.4 | Bone meal converts dirt into a grass block where grass can survive. Consumes bone meal in survival. |
| `renewableLeavesCrafting` | 1.14.4 | A matching log in the center, with sticks above, below, left, and right, crafts 4 matching leaves. |
| `renewableHoneycombCrafting` | 1.15 | 1 honeycomb block crafts back into 4 honeycombs. |
| `renewableCalcite` | 1.17 | Lava becomes calcite with a bone block directly below and a regular amethyst block beside or directly above the lava. See the setup below. |
| `renewableTuff` | 1.17 | Smelt 1 gravel into 1 tuff. |
| `renewableLapisOre` | 1.17 | 8 calcite surrounding 1 amethyst shard craft 1 lapis ore. |
| `renewableRawOresCrafting` | 1.17 | 8 cobblestone surrounding 1 iron, copper, or gold ingot craft 1 matching raw ore. |
| `pistonHarvestableAmethysts` | 1.17 | A piston breaks an existing budding-amethyst block and drops it for recovery. This does not create new budding amethyst. |
| `obsidianHardnessReinforcedDeepslate` | 1.19 | Gives reinforced deepslate obsidian-like mining hardness. This alone adds neither a drop nor a renewable source. |
| `silkTouchableReinforcedDeepslate` | 1.19 | Silk Touch mining can recover an existing reinforced-deepslate block. |
| `wardensDropReinforcedDeepslate` | 1.19 | A Warden drops 1–4 reinforced deepslate when mob loot is enabled. This is the renewable source. |
### Calcite generator: exact setup
1. Enable `renewableCalcite`.
2. Put a **bone block directly below** the position where the lava will go.
3. Put a normal **amethyst block** against any horizontal side of that position, or directly above it.
4. Place lava there, or trigger a lava update after enabling the rule.
A simple side-by-side layout is:
```text
Top layer: [Amethyst block] [Lava -> Calcite]
Layer below: [Bone block]
```
**No water is required.** Use an amethyst block, not budding amethyst. The bone and amethyst blocks are not consumed. The rule does not scan the world or retroactively turn existing obsidian, basalt, or calcite into anything else; conversion runs when lava is placed or updated. With the rule disabled or either required block missing, this mod's calcite conversion does not run.
## Notes, testing, and feedback
- Recipes can remain visible in recipe viewers even with their rule disabled. Actual crafting and smelting are checked on the server. A client recipe-book refresh may require reconnecting.
- Tool-switching and loot-prediction mods may not recognize runtime-only drop changes.
- This is a beta release. Build and test coverage varies by target: 1.14.4 and 26.x have focused runtime/GameTest coverage; intermediate versions have build, packaging, and server-smoke checks, but not equivalent full gameplay automation.
- This description documents the published Beta 2 files, not unreleased features on the development branch.
- English and Simplified Chinese are maintained manually. Other localizations are machine translated and may contain inaccurate terminology.
