# Overview  The British Rail Class 390 "Pendolino" is an electric high-speed tilting train that has run on the West Coast Main Line since July 2002, currently operated by Avanti West Coast (previously Virgin Trains) and leased from Angel Trains. Built by Alstom using Fiat Ferroviaria's Pendolino tilting technology, the fleet was originally assembled in nine-car formation at Alstom's Washwood Heath plant in Birmingham, with 31 units later extended to eleven cars using additional carriages built in Savigliano, Italy, and four brand-new eleven-car units built there directly. Each carriage tilts up to 8° using electromechanical actuators, sensed and triggered automatically by onboard equipment ahead of each curve, letting the train run curves around 20% faster than it otherwise could without discomfort to passengers — even the pantograph tilts in the opposite direction to keep contact with the overhead line steady. Top design speed is 140 mph (225 km/h), though it's limited to 125 mph (200 km/h) in regular service by West Coast Main Line signalling; a Class 390 unofficially reached 145.7 mph (234.5 km/h) during pre-service testing in 2003. A nine-car 390/0 unit seats up to 469 passengers, while the eleven-car 390/1 units carry up to 607 following their 2021–2024 refurbishment. The fleet has also weathered a serious test of its crashworthiness: in the 2007 Grayrigg derailment, a unit came off the track at speed and rolled down an embankment, with only one fatality among 108 people on board — credited to the Pendolino's crush-zone structure. ## Class 390 "Pendolino" in Minecraft (MTR mod) This resource pack adds the Class 390 "Pendolino" into Minecraft using the Minecraft Transit Railway mod, with a working active tilt system that engages above 70 km/h and scales up to a maximum of 8°, just like the real train. The original model was made by cw_315 for Transport Fever 2, and ported to Minecraft by Vitor2005 in 2025.
